More and more people see laser hair removal as an ideal solution in the fight against unwanted hair growth. Laser hair removal is safe and effective, giving permanent effect. But how exactly does that laser work? Does lasering hurt? And are the hairs really gone permanently?
All laser hair removal treatments at The Laser Lab are the only ones in Amsterdam using the Soprano Titanium
Goodbye unwanted hair growth
How does it work….
Your body hair contains pigment (melanin). The more pigment, the darker the hairs. This pigment absorbs the heat of a laser beam. The heat reaches the hair follicle, which cannot withstand this and breaks down. The hair then does not grow back.
Blonde and gray hairs contain hardly any pigment. So there is nothing that can absorb the heat. Because of this, laser hair removal for light hairs is unfortunately not possible.
So what about dark skin, you may ask? With many laser devices, this is indeed a problem. After all, dark or sun-tanned skin also contains a lot of pigment. Our device, the Soprano Titanium, is suitable for all skin types. People with colored or tanned skin can also get hair removal safely with us.
The skin specialist looks at your skin type and the thickness, density and color of your hair. Based on this, we determine the best treatment and proper settings on the laser device for a safe and effective treatment plan. We always strive for maximum results in as few treatments as possible, so you don’t have to come in unnecessarily often.
At the intake, if you wish, you will receive a brief trial treatment. We then laser one armpit, for example. At home, you can see for yourself the difference from the other armpit. So you experience at no cost what lasering can do for you.
A test pulse on a specific area is also possible, so you can experience how your skin reacts to the laser and whether you find it painful.
Depending on the desired area, between 10 and 45 minutes. With the Soprano Titanium, we can laser larger areas of skin at once. As a result, treatment time is up to 2x faster than with older laser devices.
This depends on the area: the faster the hair grows there, the less time there needs to be between treatments. The waiting time ranges from 6 to 12 weeks. In the intake interview, we discuss the expected number of treatments and how much time should be in between.
No, laser hair removal at The Laser Lab Amsterdam does not hurt. Our laser device, the Soprano Titanium, has special ICE cooling technology that continuously cools your skin during treatment. Because of this, you do not experience pain during laser treatment.
Yes, it is safe. At The Laser Lab, we work with professional equipment and experienced, trained laser specialists. You always get personalized advice with us. For good advice, it is important to be honest, for example, about a (possible) pregnancy, medication use or planned surgery.
In rare cases, side effects occur, such as stimulation of hair growth or pigment changes in the skin. These side effects are temporary and do not cause harm.
You can often see results after the first treatment. Hair growth is reduced and some of the hair may feel softer or thinner. After 3-4 treatments, the results are really visible
Laser hair removal never reaches all your hairs at once. It works only on hairs in the growth phase, and this is 15-20% on average for each appointment To reach all the hairs, you need an average of 6 to 9 treatments.
